Recent studies from Harvard, Brigham Young University, and the National Institute on Aging indicate that the quality of our close relationships and level of daily interaction have a greater impact on our long-term health than diet, exercise, and even our genes. Our interpersonal relationships are a key element to our longevity, and senior living communities are evolving to acknowledge the role that social engagement plays in physical wellness. It is clearer than ever: The comfort of familiar faces and trusted friends fosters a long and healthy life, both emotionally and physically.
