Kennebunkport names new town clerk with passion for democracy
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine – Jamie Mitchell studied political science in college, worked in the legal profession to preserve official documents, wants to see young people more engaged in their local government, and describes the democratic process in America as “beautiful.”
So perhaps you can see how the position of town clerk in Kennebunkport jumped out at her when she learned it was available.
Selectmen appointed Mitchell to the position on Jan. 28. Mitchell succeeds Tracey O’Roak, who is now the assistant to Town Manager Laurie Smith.
“I’m looking forward to giving everything that I can to the community and my hometown,” Mitchell said in an interview.
