CLEVELAND, Ohio A former Cuyahoga County corrections officer will spend 30 days in jail for failing to seek medical attention for a dying inmate and then falsified jail records to cover up that he failed to make required rounds in the hours the inmate lay dying.

CLEVELAND, Ohio The father of a man shot and killed by an off-duty Cleveland police officer said a grand jury’s decision last week against charging the officer felt like “they spit in our face.”
Emmanuel Franklin said the pain that followed the grand jury decision to not charge Cleveland police officer Jose Garcia in the April 9 shooting of his son, Desmond Franklin, increases every day Garcia remains an officer.
“We are overwhelmed with pain and hurt from the decision of the grand jury,” Emmanuel Franklin said Wednesday during a news conference.
