There have been 123 homicides in 2020, compared to 79 in 2019, according to Assistant Chief Joe Wade.Wade said the department is implementing strategies to help get crime down.“A lot of our city is just dark and it’s dirty. If we could just see light,” said Ward 4 City Councilman De’Keither Stamps.JPD officials said blamed the increase on several factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and unemployment.
