Three police officers GREATER Manchester Police (GMP) is set to receive more than £1.8m to crack down on serious crime with targeted action . The Home Office will hand £1,862,000 to the force to tackle serious crime in the region, which may be used in certain areas to increase patrols, carry out weapon sweeps or for stop and search activity among other operational work. The money comes in addition to the £3.37m that will be given to the Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit, which was announced last month. The fund is part of a £130.5m package the government is setting aside to tackle serious violent crime – including murder and knife crime – in the next year.
