The inter-ministerial committee set up to dispose off assets that have been finally forfeited to the Federal Government said it has such assets in 25 locations across the country so far.
Dayo Apata, who chairs the Inter-ministerial Committee on the Disposal of Assets Forfeited to the Federal Government (ICDAFG), led an inspection tour to four of the locations in Abuja. after a press briefing on the activities of the committee on Tuesday.
One of the four locations visited by the committee was a house at 14 Adzope Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, a property recovered from a former Chief of Air Staff and later Chief of Defence Staff, the late Alex Badeh.

The federal government has disclosed that it is set to dispose of assets recovered from looters across the country.
The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr Dayo Apata (SAN), who made the disclosure Tuesday, said that the disposal of the affected assets is in line with the mandate of the committee and the inherent prosecutorial powers of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice.
Apata, who doubles as Chairman, Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Disposal of Assets Forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, however stated that the disposal, which is done in the best interest of the public, would be carried out in a very transparent manner.

The Federal Government, on Tuesday, said it has successfully traced forfeited assets that are currently situated in 25 different locations in the country.
It disclosed that the assets included landed properties, plants, machinery, motor vehicles, electronics, furniture and equipment, water vessels, jewelry, ornaments, as well as clothing materials.
The assets were recovered from alleged treasury looters and forfeited to the government on the order of courts.
The Solicitor-General of the Federation, SGF, and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Dayo Apata, SAN, who made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, said the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Disposal of Assets Forfeited, “is still updating the list of assets that have been finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria”.

The Inter-ministerial Committee on the Disposal of Assets Forfeited to the Federal Government, on Tuesday, assured Nigerians that the Committee will ensure that the assets are neither misappropriated nor mismanaged.
As a way of ensuring a departure from the past, the Committee equally promised to ensure transparency, efficiency and adherence to due process of the law in the carrying out its mandates.
