Four California government employee unions are demanding salary increases from the California Department of Human resources (CalHR) and the State Legislature to keep up with the high cost of living in California, with one union having authorized a strike, and negotiations stalled over disparities in pay.
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors were split Tuesday over writing a letter in support of a state senate bill that would divest public employee retirement funds from fossil fuel companies. The board voted 3-2 to write the letter in support of SB 252 during a meeting.
