In the years since Anthony Rendon rose to power as speaker of the California Assembly, nonprofits associated with his wife, Annie Lam, have received more than $500,000 in donations and event sponsorships from dozens of companies with business before the Legislature.
Nonprofits are not required to publicly disclose their donors. But since 2016, when Rendon ascended to the speakership, five nonprofits where Lam is employed have received donations or sponsorships from more than 50 entities, according to public records, promotional flyers and interviews.
Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D – Fullerton) was appointed as the newest member of the California Assembly Committee on Education. The Assemblywoman was appointed by Speaker of the Assembly, Assemblymember Anthony Rendon.
“As a teacher for thirty years in the Fullerton Elementary School District, I am honored to return to my roots and focus on the needs of our students throughout California,” said Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva. “As an Elementary and Middle School Teacher for over 30 years, I am excited to provide a unique and experienced perspective to the committee and look forward to working with the Chair, Assemblymember O’Donnell and my legislative colleagues.”
