This year s state budget includes no new taxes or fees, but a lot of spending. Here s what you ll be paying for. (Thomas P. Costello/Gannett)
NEW JERSEY Gov. Phil Murphy delivered a 2020 budget address that may have surprised people, proposing a big burst of funding to schools but no new fees or tax hikes
But his address covered a lot of areas – additional school aid, COVID relief, business and pension funding, boosting health care and improving NJ Transit – that millions of New Jerseyans may find interesting, if not appealing . or even detestable (see list of eight points below).

The family-owned zoo became his forever home.
Space, 92, died on Monday, the zoo announced in a Facebook post that prompted an outpouring of sympathy and reminiscences. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Space was a lifelong resident of Wantage and, according to his obituary, was working at the 100-acre zoo until the end. His son, Assemblyman Parker Space, R-24th District, is among the family members carrying on the tradition at the zoo.

WANTAGE Firefighter Hunter Space left his Beemverville Fire Department in Wantage with a pick-up truck full of firefighting gear. After a 14-hour ride, he arrived at the firehouse in rural Vance, Alabama.
The trip was to donate the gear his fire department in Sussex County could no longer use to the southern department in need. The gear included breathing apparatus, resistant hoods, turnout gear (pants and coats), flashlights and alarms to alert others when a firefighter goes down while battling a fire. A lot of stuff which was expired up here was golden to them, Space said Tuesday after his return. A fourth-generation volunteer firefighter, Space is a member of the family that owns Space Farms and is the son of Assemblyman Parker Space, a former chief of the Beemerville Fire Department.
