Just after successfully conducting elections in four states and one Union Territory, India s chief election commissioner Sushil Chandra said that the body has always been neutral and impartial in imparting its duties.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, he further stated that the election commission took all precautionary measures and followed strict COVID-19 guidelines during conducting the Assembly elections. He added, The EC can issue the direction and tell them to take action, but the ECI cannot take on the role of State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
