Former Attorney General, senior lawyer, and Padma Vibhushan awardee Soli Sorabjee, aged 91, passes away due to COVID-19 infection today in the morning at Delhi.

New Delhi- Considered one of the finest legal minds in the nation, Soli Sorabjee, former Attorney General succumbs to the coronavirus infection at the age of 91.
Sorabjee was a senior lawyer and was awarded the prestigious Padma Vibhushan for his major contribution in the legal field through which he helped countless poor and downtrodden people.
The eminent jurist was undergoing COVID-19 treatment in a private hospital in Delhi.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 22 (ANI): People travelling to Assam from outside states will have to undergo a compulsorily home quarantine for seven days amid the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. All passengers arriving by flights and trains from outside the state will have to undergo compulsorily home quarantine for seven days, even if the result of the COVID test undergone on arrival is negative, the state government said in a notification on Wednesday.
However, government officials, those travelling for medical reasons and people visiting the state in connection with bereavements will be exempted from it, informed Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The coronavirus death rate in Assam is 0.50 per cent. The NHS said that 1,347 COVID positive patients died due to other reasons. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 333. So far, 66,03,122 tests have been conducted.
The number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against coronavirus has reached 65.28 lakh on the twenty-fifth day of the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program. India is the topmost country to reach the 6 million mark of COVID vaccinations in just 24 days.
In a significant development, India has been consistently following a declining slope of active cases. The country’s active caseload has dropped to 1.41 lakh (1,41,511) on February 10. The present active cases now consist of just 1.30 per cent of country s total positive cases. 33 states and UTs have reported less than 5000 active cases in the last 24 hours, the Centre stated.

Gauhati: A historic decision in the medical field of the state, as the promotion for faculties (IMC norms qualified) in all the medical colleges of Assam have been approved. The promotion is fixed for all the faculties who are qualified according to the IMC norms even if there are no vacancies.
