Using NASA’s LANCE - satellite data processing systems, India Today’s OSINT team visually inspected the depth of the deluge that forced about 4 lakh people out of their homes in the northeastern part of India and Bangladesh.
Flooding caused by an overflowing Brahmaputra river has affected over 15,000 people in Assam s Morigaon district. The floodwaters have submerged several villages, forcing students to use boats to reach school. The Central Water Commission reported that the Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger level mark.
Heavy rains have caused severe flooding, and brought normal life to a standstill in various parts of Assam, besides claiming the lives of seven people, as confirmed by the daily flood.
The flood situation in Assam has improved although five more people lost their lives on Sunday and over 22 lakh people continued to reel under the deluge across 25 districts.
