The APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd.) spent around Rs 30,000 crore in the past five years to purchase power from different sources to meet the power requirement in the state.
More than 3,000 industrialists formed a human chain in Coimbatore demanding reduction in power tariff. Tamil Nadu Industrial Electricity Consumers Association organized the protest. The industrialists want the state government to reduce fixed power charges, scrap peak hour tariff, and withdraw networking charges for rooftop solar power systems.
Micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore have threatened another round of protest demanding a reduction in power tariffs in the district. They will hold a human chain protest on Wednesday across the state to pressure the government to decrease the power tariff.
