EC Turns Down Plea to postpone Tamulpur Polls
The Election Commission turned down the plea made by the BPF and the Congress to postpone the polling in Tamulpur constituency of Assam.

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission on Sunday turned down the plea made by the BPF and the Congress to postpone the polling in Tamulpur constituency of Assam after Bodoland People s Front BPF candidate Rangja Khungur Basumatary joined the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP, ahead of the poll day.
The Congress party and the BPF has earlier demanded the suspension of the polls in the constituency after the BPF candidate switched parties.

Guwahati: A video of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has surfaced online, where the Congress leader was seen rushing towards the stage as she was getting late to address the gathering. Nevertheless, she managed to make it on time.
In the video, she was seen sprinting towards the stage, whilst the crowd gathered to welcome her. However, the BJP did not miss a chance to take a jibe at the party by terming it as Congress old habit.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Saturday appealed to the Assam-based insurgent group ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah to release the two employees of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure, who were kidnapped last December. We appeal to ULFA-I to release the employees of OIL on humanitarian ground. Our doors are always open for talks. Therefore, we appeal to ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah to shun violence and have dialogue, Mr Sonowal said.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], December 13 (ANI): Assam Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that along with United People s Party Liberal (UPPL) and Gana Surakha Party (GSP), the BJP will stake a claim to form next Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in the region. United People Party Liberal, Gana Surakha Party, and BJP alliance has the majority. We are going to stake a claim to form the next BTC. All the three-party has chosen UPPL s president Pramod Boro as their leader, so obviously, he will be next BTC chief, said Sarma.
