Financial constraints can often limit a student’s access to quality education especially if they come from low-income families, with the most common struggles being an inability to cope with the school fee and obtain basic school necessities such as stationery and uniforms.
This can lead to difficulties in staying focus, leading to a loss of interest in obtaining the grades they need.
Advocating Life-long Learning for an Aspiring Future, better known as ALAF, is an initiative by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) that targets underprivileged families that have a household gross income of BND500 or less per month; the bank has successfully helped 243 students as of January 2021.
