Buttigieg, Emhoff Visit NC State
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and U.S. second gentleman Doug Emhoff recently toured Centennial Campus labs and spoke with NC State researchers about the university’s infrastructure-related research and innovation.
On their first stop Buttigieg and Emhoff visited the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics – home of NC State’s Additive Manufacturing Lab – in Fitts-Woolard Hall. Researchers there are developing new materials, methods and science necessary to create 3D structures from powder form metals as well as doing research and development in 3D printing of multi-materials, plastics and construction materials.
Next, in the Pavement and Asphalt Lab, also in Fitts-Woolard Hall, Buttigieg and Emhoff spoke with NC State researchers who are developing test methods and models to measure asphalt performance and improve the design, construction and management of asphalt pavements.
