Pedestrian hit, killed by dumpster truck near Pleasant Hill

By Sue Danielson May 25, 2021 (Polk County, IA) A pedestrian was hit and killed by a dumpster truck this (Tuesday) morning near Pleasant Hill. The Polk County Sheriff s Office says it happened around 10 o clock in the 10400 block of East University Avenue. Witnesses say the person walked out of a north ditch and was hit by the side of the truck. There are no sidewalks or crosswalks in the area. The Polk County Sheriff s Office says a dumpster roller truck belonging to Aspen Waste Systems was traveling westbound in the far-right lane when the pedestrian walked into traffic and was hit and killed.
