Just in time for Pride Month, San Antonio College (SAC) has been recognized as an LGBTQ-friendly higher learning institution by the Campus Pride Index, an organization that produces a national ranking of colleges and universities, according to a press release.
Considering policies and programs to see if they cultivate a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ students, SAC earned a 4.5 stars in the 5-star rating system, earning Premiere status from the index.

On May 18, San Antonio College (SAC) announced that they have been awarded the competitive Aspen Institute Prize, an accolade given to the best community college in the nation.
SAC is the first of the Alamo Colleges to receive this national honor in its ten year history, and the first amongst any school in Texas. And it’s not just a title it also includes $600,000 dollars in funds toward the college not too shabby for this San Antonio institution.
After a survey of over 1,000 colleges across the U.S, the honor went to the school that best exemplifies leadership, teaching and learning, workforce success, degree and certificate completion, and equitable opportunities for students of color.
