Nosheen Iftikhar vs Asjad Malhi: Polling ends, counting of votes underway in NA-75

Photos: file SIALKOT: The polling for the much-awaited by-elections has finally come to an end at the National Assembly constituency NA-75 Sialkot-IV, Daska, and the counting of results is underway.  The hotly-contested polls predominately focused on PTI s Ali Asjad Malhi and PML-N s Nosheen Iftikhar. According to unofficial, preliminary results from some of the polling stations,  PML-N s Nosheen Iftikhar is currently in the lead with  6,172 votes. On the other hand, Ali Asjad Malhi has so far secured 3,887 votes. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) made all necessary administrative and electoral preparations for holding peaceful, free, and transparent elections.

APP photo by Muhammad Munir Butt Unofficial results from all 360 polling stations in the NA-75 Sialkot-IV constituency indicate that PML-N s Nosheen Iftikhar has defeated PTI s Ali Asjad Malhi. Iftikhar, according to the preliminary results, secured 110,075 votes, whereas Malhi obtained 93,433 votes. The PML-N could not wait and began celebrating even before the results were announced on television, after midnight. Party workers broke into dance to the beats of drums and distributed sweets.

Result awaited as vote count in NA-75 Daska by-election gets underway   Published On Close competition is expected between PTI candidate Asjad Malhi and PML-N candidate Nosheen Iftikhar DASKA (Web Desk) – All eyes are now on the election result as the voting process in NA-75 by-election in Daska has concluded. The PML-N has fielded Nosheen Iftikhar while Ali Asjad Malhi is the candidate for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. As per unofficial and undeclared results from fifty-five polling stations, PTI’s Ali Asjad Malhi is leading with 17,166 votes, whereas, PML-N’s Nosheen Iftikhar has obtained 14,555 votes so far. POLLING ARRANGEMENTS  The polling that started at 8am continued till 5 pm without any break. 360 polling stations were setup for the 4,94000 registered voters in the constituency. Out of which, 47 polling stations were declared sensitive by the ECP.
