Ramis Banuri voted for the first time this year. The 18-year-old Emory University student said it was important he did it in Georgia.
“I’ve grown up with a bunch of different people telling me, ‘Your vote never matters yada yada yada,’” Banuri says. “But I think that this was a unique moment in which my and everyone else’s singular vote in Georgia really did make the difference.”
President-elect Joe Biden eked out a win in the state by just under 12,000 votes.
As early voting is underway in two U.S. Senate runoffs, advocates want to make sure Georgia’s Muslims cast their ballots.
