Global uncertainties and rising interest rates, fueled by multiple hikes from the US Federal Reserve and the Central Bank of Canada, have impacted private equity investments in Indian real estate. While US and Canada inflows declined, Asian investors sustained the sector, contributing over three-fourths of total investments. Mumbai led with $1.6 billion, but overall, India experienced a 44% drop to $3 billion in private equity investments in 2023.
Chanakya Chakravarti, a veteran PE real estate investor, said India is a diversification and future story that will scale up in the next two decades.
