The release of Cal’s position depth chart comes after a three-sided quarterback battle took center stage at fall camp, as Jackson competed with NC State transfer Ben Finley and redshirt freshman Fernando Mendoza.
Cal football held its second fall scrimmage Saturday, closing out one of its final practices open to the public. For players looking to demonstrate why they deserve a higher spot on the depth chart entering the season opener, the scrimmage proved critical for players across multiple skill positions.
The scrimmage, which had over 100 plays in a little over an hour of practice, revealed much about the Bears just three weeks before their opener against Texas State.
