More than 7,000 such electric bikes operate in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, and experts said they “need to be regulated”. A majority of such small e-bikes are those run by e-commerce operators, goods and food delivery boys, while a significant number of bikes are also available for citizens on rental basis as part of public bike-sharing system.
