(Des Moines, IA) An Oskaloosa man convicted in a woman s drug-related death has been sentenced to 20-years in prison. Investigators say Cody Vancebrock injected meth into 24-year-old Ashley Shafer in July of 2019, causing her death. Documents state Vancenbrock and another person then dumped Shafer s body in the Skunk River. Her body was recovered August 6th, 2019.
Vacenbrock was sentenced on July 29, 2021, by United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger, for Distribution of Methamphetamine Resulting in Death. Following imprisonment, Vancenbrock is ordered to serve five years of supervised release, pay restitution, and pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.
