Pixabay SCRANTON - The McDonald s Restaurant at 10 Brooklyn St. in Carbondale was sued by a woman that allegedly had scalding coffee spilled all over her in the drive-through. The complaint was filed by plaintiff Ashley Plotts on May 3 in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas.  Plotts says she visited the McDonald s on July 19, 2020, where she ordered a large hot coffee. The plaintiff says that, when the employee was handing her the coffee through the drive-through window, the lid suddenly came off the cup, spilling the coffee on the plaintiff and resulting in second-degree burns across her lap.  The McDonald s is sued for negligence and loss of consortium totaling $100,000 in damages requested.
