An eight-year-old boy in Saskatoon is alive because Brad Pilon went out for a Saturday afternoon jog.
Pilon and his wife Ashley were running on the Meewasin trail around 5:30 p.m. when, according to Medavie Health Services, Brad heard screaming coming from the South Saskatchewan River.

An eight-year-old boy, who had been playing along the riverbank with his seven-year-old cousin, had slipped and fallen into the water. The current from the river quickly pulled the eight year old away from the shoreline. Brad said he heard the boy screaming that he couldn’t swim and then saw him briefly go under the water.
