Image Credit: Submitted/District of Peachland July 15, 2021 - 6:00 PM Peachland council spoke unanimously this week against allowing memorials of any sort in its parks including community efforts to recognize children found buried near residential schools. “I don’t really want to see our beach front or public areas turned into shrines of some kind,” Coun. Keith Fielding said during Tuesday’s council meeting. “Maybe there is a need for some organized way of allowing people to express their condolences and their concerns in some other fashion but I personally don’t believe it’s a good idea to do anything with our bylaw that might suggest or encourage that it’s OK to do this kind of thing.”
