After mucormycosis, cases of ‘bone death’ or
Avascular Necrosis (AVN) have been reported in patients being treated for covid. Avascular Necrosis, also called osteonecrosis, refers to the death of bone tissue when blood supply becomes inadequate.
According to doctors, the most common sites for AVN to occur are the hip, knee, ankle and shoulder. AVN leads to tiny cracks in the bone and its eventual collapse.
