A scandal-hit NHS trust has today pleaded guilty to the wholly avoidable death of a baby boy, in a landmark prosecution.
Harry Richford died seven days after his emergency delivery at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (QEQM) Hospital in Margate.
An inquest found that his death in November 2017 was wholly avoidable and contributed to by neglect.
At Folkestone Magistrates Court today, the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust admitted failing to provide safe care and treatment to Harry and his mother, Sarah.
The trust said it had already made significant changes following Harry s death and would do everything we can to learn from this tragedy.

The delay on a decision whether to move A&E even further from Romney Marsh as part of plans to reshuffle east Kent s three hospitals has been criticised.
Currently, residents on the Marsh have to travel to Ashford s William Harvey Hospital for the accident and emergency department - which is 17 miles from New Romney.

Building a new super hospital in Canterbury will result in more patients deaths, health campaigners have said.

Plans are on the table to build the state-of-the-art facility on farmland next to the rundown Kent & Canterbury site to help revolutionise healthcare in east Kent.
The five-storey brick building would have an emergency unit for the whole of east Kent, alongside specialist services for heart and stroke care centralised in the city.
