Ashalique Williams, 24, of Evansville was later arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.
Police questioning of both Williams and the mother of the injured child revealed different narratives of what may have led up to the shooting.
The mother of the injured child said she was going to meet a man at the address to get money for a medical procedure. She took her three children, all under the age of 18, with her in her car.
According to the mother, she met the man and his girlfriend outside of the house. After an argument, she said she decided to leave, when both the man and woman pulled guns and began firing at her as she drove away, striking her car and child.
