Two regional pipeline companies have agreed to pay $12.5 million to settle claims under the Clean Water Act for oil spills in Montana and South Dakota.
Belle Fourche Pipeline Co.'s Bicentennial Pipeline ruptured in 2016 in Billings County, North Dakota, polluting a tributary of the Little Missouri River.
The 2015 spill prompted county officials to issue a “Do Not Drink” advisory and distribute bottled water to Glendive residents. The advisory lasted six days.
