Inspired by his late grandmother who lived to 102 years old and fond memories of her neighborhood in Ascarate Park area, Raul Rodriguez gathered six friends to create a mural a few hundred feet from her house.
Rodriguez, who has a day job working for Medicare but enjoys graffiti art, said the theme of the mural, characters from the Disney movie Coco, came naturally. My grandmother Elvira Villanueva passed away five years ago and my uncle passed away recently, Rodriguez said. And my friends and I got together and we wanted to pay respects to the community, for our loved ones, for people who deal with challenges, whether young or older.
