Chris Buescher and William Byron have this in common: Neither wants to declare himself the favorite heading into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Buescher won three of the last five regular-season races, including the finale Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway. Byron, meanwhile, has a series-leading five victories and is tied for the points lead with Martin Truex Jr. as the postseason begins at Darlington Raceway next Sunday.
Kyle Busch finished 28th at Kansas, and since he entered the Round of 8 race just inside the cutline, Busch, like other drivers in playoff contention, was hoping for a strong performance. But, the driver of the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing was plagued by several problems throughout the race, which led to a couple of heated outbursts over his team's radio. One of which targeted Bubba Wallace.
