Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], December 18 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has called a party meeting on Friday.
Every Friday, the Chairperson meets leaders in batches, according to top TMC sources.
It is noteworthy that, rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Suvendu Adhikari formally tendered his resignation to party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday. He has also resigned from the state Legislative Assembly. There is also speculation that he might join the BJP.
In his resignation letter, addressed to the party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Adhikari thanked the TMC for the opportunities given to him.

Asansol (West Bengal) [India], December 18 (ANI): A day after resigning as Asansol civic body chief and Trinamool Congress (TMC) district president, rebel party leader Jitendra Tiwari on Friday rejected rumours of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Slamming the ruling party for removing his security, Tiwari said that the government took the step as it did not realise his worth. When the state govt thought my life was precious, it gave me security. Now as the govt feels my life has no worth, my security has been removed. I am going to Kolkata to meet my daughter. I am in no way going to join the BJP, he said while on his way to Kolkata from Asansol.

In just one day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led TMC has suffered two major setbacks. On Friday, party MLA Sheilbhadra Dutta and Minority Front leader Kabir-ul-Islam resigned. Earlier, Suvendu Adhikari and Jitendra Tiwari left the party.

Several rebel TMC MLAs and leaders will join the BJP along with Suvendu at a public meeting presided over by Home Minister Amit Shah in Medinipur over the weekend, sources said. The rest are likely to wait and watch for now.
In his short resignation letter dated December 16, addressed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Suvendu said he was “thankful for all the challenges and opportunities that has been afforded to me”. Suvendu was a member of the party’s steering committee and state committee, and a leader of its trade union front. Last month, he had quit the Cabinet where he held three important departments.

Kolkata, Dec 18 : At a time when three heavyweight lawmakers of West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress resigned within a span of 24-hours, party supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday urged her colleagues not to fear and work unitedly in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
Banerjee convened a high-level meeting with senior party leaders at her south Kolkata Kalighat residence this evening to discuss the strategy of holding back Trinamool members.
According to party insiders, Banerjee reportedly told her party colleagues in a closed-door meeting “not to fear about anything”. Banerjee reportedly said that people are with her government. The door-to-door government campaign received enormous response from across the state and no one should get perturbed with who all are leaving the party. It is good that they are going, she said, as per sources.
