Uttar Pradesh: Absconding IPS officer carrying Rs 50,000 reward surrenders in court File Photo Lucknow: Arvind Sen, an IPS officer, who was on the run in connection with a multi-crore tender scam, gave a slip to the police on Wednesday and surrendered before a Lucknow court. A native of Ayodhya, the Lucknow court remanded judicial custody for Sen till February 9. Evading police arrest, the IPS officer had moved a surrender application which was to be heard on Wednesday. Police men dressed in plain clothes were deployed in and around court to arrest him but Sen gave a slip to the police and surrendered before the court.

The Uttar Pradesh vigilance department has started a probe into the assets of two suspended IPS officers one accused of extorting and abetting the suicide of a businessman and the other of facilitating transfers and promotions in exchange for money. The vigilance investigation is in addition to the departmental inquiry for corruption against Manilal Patidar, the former superintendent of police of Mahoba district and now absconding, and Abhishek Dixit, senior superintendent of police of Allahabad. Uttar Pradesh police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anybody providing information leading to the arrest of Patidar, who is absconding ever since businessman Indrakant Tripathi died of a bullet injury on September 13.

Animal husbandry scam: Non-bailable warrant issued against IPS officer

A non-bailable warrant was issued against senior IPS officer Arvind Sen by an Anti-Corruption Court in Lucknow on Thursday in connection with a Rs 9.72-crore scam in the state animal husbandry department. Lucknow ACP (Gomti Nagar) Shweta Srivastava, who is probing the case, said: “We had also applied for a non-bailable warrant against another accused, but the court has approved it only for Sen.”

Both the officers have now been declared absconding and non-bailable warrants against them have been issued now by the local courts. On Thursday, the Lucknow court issued a non-bailable warrant against the deputy inspector general ( DIG) of PAC, Agra, Arvind Sen who is wanted in a corruption case. The warrant was issued after the Allahabad High Court rejected his plea to quash FIR against him. He is accused of calling a complainant to his office and threatening him at the behest of the mastermind of the Animal Husbandry scam.
