Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan honoured with lifetime achievement award

Iconic Sufi singer, musician and qawwal Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was given the lifetime achievement award and honorary membership by the Arts Council Karachi at a ceremony on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the Arts Council quoted Khan as saying, “I am honoured to be accepting this award by the Arts Council, a world-renowned institute of arts and culture. I cannot put my feelings into words for the honour bestowed on me.”
He added: “Anwar Maqsood is my mentor. He is the legend of words and stories. It is not less than an honour for me to speak in front of him. Ahmad Shah chose beautiful words for my introduction.”

Iconic singer, musician, and qawwal, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan received a lifetime achievement award from the Arts Council, Karachi, in a ceremony on Tuesday evening.
“We are proud to present the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lifetime Membership of the Arts Council Karachi to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in recognition of his massive achievements,” said President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmed Shah.
He was accompanied by the Culture Minister of Sindh Syed Sardar Ali Shah, legendary writer Anwar Maqsood, producer Salman Ahmed and Secretary Arts Council Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi.
KARACHI: President Arts Council Pakistan, Karachi Mohammad Ahmed Shah on Thursday announced that the Second Women Conference would be taking place in the city on March 6 and 7.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Shah said that “We pay tribute to all the women who have excelled in every field. If women are put aside, all dreams of development are unfulfilled”.
He said that Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be followed strictly at the conference. The audience will be allowed to sit in the hall with a gap of one empty seat. Masks will be provided to those who come without them and hands will be sanitized at the entrance.
