Barry’s plan to defeat the Forces without helping Nora kill them is to travel back in time and prevent them from being created in the first place. Their creation happened the same night Team Flash fired up the Artificial Speed Force, which explains the different colored lightning that emanated from the rooftop beam. Barry and Iris both have a little bit of all the forces inside them, as they are effectively the parents of Fuerza, Psych, and the Still Force. The Flash Recap: Everything You Missed in Mother The Flash, Barry was back in action as the Fastest Man Alive thanks to his Artificial Speed Force, but it came at a price. The thing powering his abilities left him emotionless. He coldly brought Iris back from the Mirrorverse, but at great cost, and destroyed the Artificial Speed Force, leaving himself powerless again. This week, the timing of his loss of speed couldn t be worse with Eva McCulloch ramping up her plans for the world and time running out to not only save Iris but figure out how to somehow bring their lost friends home.

Her methods were just a bit on the ruthless side, but hey, she did do some good along the way. And as you would expect, there are going to be some repercussions.
