Fishermen are slowly starting to see the area as a haven for browns, undoubtedly because of more consistent brown trout stockings in the Niagara River the past decade or more.
The kings are staging closer to shore on Lake Ontario, while in the bays, largemouth are hitting along weedlines and points, and over in the river, walleyes and bass are hitting stickbaits.
Salmon have started moving into the shallow water; staging for the fall run, largemouth bass are grabbing top water baits and walleye are hitting paddletails in the dark.
With Lake Ontario Counties Fall Trout and Salmon derby and the big money LOC Fall Derby underway, salmon, brown trout, steelhead, and bass are hitting well.
