Fine leaving the 205 interchange. Looks like we may have some roadwork eastbound because sensors are picking up slow traffic there. The 580 680 interchange over in you understand did thats still in good shape with no major problems to report to you for west 580 heading down the dublin grade and the bay bridge toll plaza is wide open so enjoy the light traffic. That light traffic stays with you across the bridge into downtown San Francisco. Thats a look at kcbs traffic. Thank you. Some breaking news now from Pleasant Hill. Loud explosions woke up the dove court neighborhood after a house caught fire. It started about 1 30 this morning. Firefighters say when they got there, the house and the cars in the driveway were all consumed by flames. The explosions happened near the cars. Several downed power lines made it difficult for crews to fight the fire but they kept it from spreading to other hopes. Bart management and Union Leaders are still talking in hopes of making a deal this week and
A month for Family Healthcare coverage. Bart wants to raise that to 132 a month with a 3 increase per year. But if workers decide not to take the bart plan and instead go on the ground their spouse or partners plans, bart still gives you 100. And that would go up to 350 a month under barts offer. Then there are the paid holidays and sick time buy backs. Bart workers birthdays are paid holidays, one of 13 paid holidays they get each year, plus their vacation. They also get 12 sick days a year. If you dont get sick, you can bank up to 250 unused sick days about 50 weeks worth and cash them out when you leave. Last few days we have been kind of trying to grind it out. Reporter still, the question of whether the unions will call a strike remains up in the air. Were going to do everything we can to avert a strike. That doesnt mean were not ready for a strike. That doesnt mean were not able to pull off a work action. We dont want to. Were going to stay here and go through this process with a
Resolution. Reporter because after deadline after deadline has come and gone that last resolution leaves the threat of a strike tomorrow hanging over commuters heads. Can they just tell us in the afternoon . Id appreciate that. Reporter bart and its unions negotiated until after midnight last night emerging at around 10 00 to announce that trains would roll today. Negotiators are working in small groups trying to pick apart a 57 million package which bart calls its last best and final offer. We are intimately involved in the negotiation process. Were devoting all our efforts and energies to an agreement, the parties to achieve an agreement, and i will not be taking any questions. Reporter that man, george cohen, is a federal mediator. He is known as an ace in the bargaining business. He was appointed by the president so we are hoping he is going to be able to help these parties get something done today. I understand barts chief negotiator missed yesterdays session and that wasnt bad. R
First crew and 9 10 the first passengers. Reporter the same goes for other park facilities like muir woods. If a deal is signed tonight, expect the gates to open tomorrow. I think youll find this Park Management is extremely nimble, maybe a little farther from washington so maybe a little less impacted by some of the red tape but even though theres a furlough in their row they have been putting their time in and answering emails and voicemails so taxpayers are getting their moneys worth here. Reporter for for those of us who call the bay area home it means a once in a goverment shutdown opportunity. To do a Public Service announcement for locals who live in the area that maybe think alcatraz is too crowded or theres too many visitors this is a great opportunity obviously with no backlog because we have been shut down. Any port within the golden gate parks i would say within the next few days is the opportunity to enjoy them without less crowds. Last check, some of the tours that can se
