A South Dakota legislative committee squashed a bill that would have required someone s biological sex to remain on their birth certificate. House Bill 1076 was sent to the 41st day by a 6-0 vote Friday morning after senators said they felt the bill would do more harm to the transgender community in South Dakota.  I would hope that we can instead of attacking the trans community, we can start supporting the community, said Sen. Red Dawn Foster, D-Pine Ridge, after seconding the motion from Sen. Mary Duvall, R-Pierre, to get the bill off the calendar.
