Two Maryland state senators have filed a bill that would require the State Highway Administration to designate a state highway as the "President Barack Obama Highway."
State senators in Maryland recently introduced legislation that seeks to rename Indian Head Highway after former President Obama.Senate Bill 213, introduced by Democratic state Sens. Arthur Ellis and Obie Patterson, would require the Maryland State Highway Administration to designate the highway, also known as Maryland Route 210, as "the President Barack Obama Highway." The change would cost roughly $12,500 to cover the costs for the design,.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Feb. 10, 2021) The veto of a multi-billion dollar education bill in Maryland may be overridden this week, along with tax increases to fund it, as the state Legislature is expected to take up the three related bills by Friday.
The Senate is expected to override Gov. Larry Hogan s veto of the Blueprint for Maryland s Future education bill during its Friday session, after it was overridden first by the House of Delegates Monday.
The bill includes a 10-year plan that increases state funding to address issues of concern within the education system detailed by the Kirwan Commission.
Duane Williams, supervisor of school security and emergency management for Carroll County Public Schools spoke for many when he told us: “It’s quite baffling to me some jurisdictions can turn 180 degrees that fast.” We also agree with Sheriff JIm DeWees, who said the state should not assume “one size fits all” in terms of school security.
