It was freaky. It was like a horror movie. But this was not hollywood make believe, these real life africanized bees were in a neighborhood. Good evening. Im eric thomas. Workers are trying to take out the xing that has been overrun by bees. They are blamed for the attacks on several dogs and people. We are live along hitchcock drive. Lisa. Reporter eric, it started here in the 3800 block of hitchcock drive. The plan was to round them up and get rid of them tonight. This is the man tasked with containing and removing all of these aggressive bees. They took over a honeybee hive in alexs backyard. They were aggressive yesterday. I got stung and my wife got stung and my son got stung through his bee suit. Reporter and when he tried to collect honey africanized bees that took over the hive escaped and attacked and first they went to the neighbors house. But unfortunately they were nice little dogs and they were killed, multiple bee stings. And then they started stinging people on the stree

Its been a crisis thats been brewing. We had the Great Recession and we lost officers due to disabilities and due to retirement and due to disputes over intention and thats contributed to this. And now the police chief is asking us to make decisions to allow him to make the flexibility to staff patrol. Ive been making sure. How many do you have on street patrol now . How many do you need to meet minimum patrol standards for Public Safety . Theres a staffing that were allowed and were not really seeing all the officers that we have allowed staffing for so were somewhere around 813, 812 officers on the street which for a city of over a Million People we would like to have a lot more officers on
