Today we will hear a lengthy set of music, bookended by the two sides from the 2022 compilation "Ishq Ke Maare - Sufi Songs From Sindh and Punjab, Pakistan". This compilation was compiled from 2013-16 in a variety of places: shrines, living rooms, and remote rural areas by Arshia Fatima Haq. It features Qawaali and other forms of Sufi music, mostly unknown musicians united in their desire for mystical union with God. "Often, the songs unfold into an organic recursion of longing, isolation, and despair, only to be redeemed by an almost erotic promise of union with the divine entity. The singers themselves are ishq ke maare - in the throes of love." -Arshia Fatima Haq
