The Overton Police Department said that a man was found dead after Overton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Ward Street at 6:45 a.m. on Friday.

TYLER, Texas As of Tuesday morning, more than 146 shelters and warming stations opened throughout the state, including several in East Texas.
Many of these places encourage people to come with blankets, chargers, as well as something to sit on, and masks are required. People who need to use the warming centers are also encouraged to call ahead if possible to check for space.

Angelina County
The Pitser Garrison Convention Center will remain open as a cold-weather shelter for those without power through at least Thursday.

ARP, Texas
Update: The shelter at the old Arp fire station is closed due to the heating system needing repairs.
Arp police say ESD is not taking anyone new at the shelter.
The Arp Police Department along with firefighters reopened the old Arp fire station as an emergency shelter Monday evening.
The station, located on Longview Street, has a backup generator up and running with heat on, and places to plug-in electric devices.
According to Arp police, the shelter will be utilized for the elderly, disabled or those needing electricity for medical devices.
