alleged victim is a maid at a luxury hotel in new york. police have arrested a 74-year-old egyptian man who is the former chairman of a major bank. our deborah feyerick is on the story. she joins us from new york. deb, it really sounds amazingly similar to a case we saw against the former chief of the imf. what do we know about this case? reporter: here s what we re hearing. first of all, the alleged suspect, he is mahmoud abdel salam omar. he s the former chair of the bank of alexandria. before that, he was head of the egyptian-american bank. he currently works for el mix salines, which is a 200-year-old company described as one of the oldest international companies in the salt industry. the alleged assault took place at the pierre hotel. it s a very fancy hotel diagonally across from the plaza here in manhattan. according to police, the hotel housekeeper responded to a guest request to deliver a box of
