KOTA KINABALU: Community leaders in Sabah's south-eastern Tawau district are moving to step up the pace of Covid-19 vaccine registration and inoculations as it reels from high daily case numbers.
KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah’s south-east Tawau district is rising with its three quarantine centres nearly reaching full capacity.
State Assistant Finance Minister and Apas assemblyman Daruk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan voiced his concern over the public apathy that was being blamed for the surge in cases in the district.
Both the district hospital and quarantine centres are being stretched, with daily cases increasing in the district since April 3, he said.
“The situation is getting critical and worrying in Tawau.
“The district hospital is already full and the quarantine centres at Tawau Sports Complex and others are nearly full, ” he told reporters after attending the Tawau district disaster management committee meeting chaired by Tawau municipal council president Arnold Joibi yesterday.
