DMX was born, Earl Simmons, in Baltimore, on December 18th, 1970. He later moved with his mother to Yonkers in New York where his early years would prove to be tumultuous. His father Joe Baker left the family when X was very young. His mother Arnett Simmons beat him badly and was largely negligent.
He often got into fights at school and, at the age of seven, was jailed for stealing cakes from a market. At the age of 10, his mother enrolled him into a children’s home without his knowledge by tricking him into believing that they were just visiting the home. He was later arrested for arson for trying to burn the children’s home down.

The ex-wife of
DMX paid tribute to the beloved rapper one day after his death, which also happened to be her 50th birthday.
On Saturday,
Tashera Simmons celebrated her 50th birthday on Instagram by honoring the hip-hop star via throwback photos from her wedding to DMX.
“Happy, happy birthday to me. April 10, 1971. Wow, what a ride. What a journey. As I close up the last 50 years of my life, I rejoice and I thank God for everything it has taught me. The journey that it took me through. The hurt, the pain, the triumph, the resistance, the resilience, the learning lessons, the relationships, the power,” Simmons said in a voiceover video message on Instagram see the post below.
