Bengaluru, April 20 (IANS) Popular Kannada actress Harshika Poonacha said on Friday that she is afraid to step outside in the streets of Bengaluru after her family was attacked by a mob for speaking in Kannada and appealed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Karnataka Police to take strict action against the miscreants involved in the incident.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who entered politics in 1978, has made similar statements related to his retirement from electoral politics in the past too.
A massive loss in regions under the purview of the chief minister could hurt the possibility of Siddaramaiah staying on for a full five-year term since Karnataka Congress head and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar is keen to take over.
