Motorcycle actually cut through and got on the highway headed in the wrong direction, and then crashed headon into a van. The driver was seriously injured and is being treated at wake med. The driver of the honda was not hurt. This started after 2 00. The Highway Patrol says one of the troopers cited the motorcyclist going 75 in a 45 mile per hour zone. The trooper put on their lights, did a uturn, tried to pull the men over, but thats when they say eventually for a one before that head on collision. This motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and putting his life as well as reporter we are told the Highway Patrol trooper did not follow that motorcycle once they got on the highway headed in the wrong direction. Not only is that putting the trooper and more lives at risk, but it is not their policy. We are working to learn the names of the drivers involved. Troopers tell us charges are pending. Again, this is a situation where politicians of both sides of the aisle are trying to sugarcoat it. To have a more focused view on the National Security interest and a more limited use of force that reflects our National Interests. Clearly defined missions are important. Not clearlys it is defined. As catherine pointed out, i think the concern that many have is we wake up one day and find what was sold to us by the politicians is not actually the case and we have seen mission creep. We saw that in afghanistan and iraq and members of Congress Need to be willing to take on their own party and administration to make sure we have clarity and limitations and focus on whenever we put peoples lives on the line.
