A Burmese Police officer showed me me where hundreds of men, carrying only machetes and petrol bombs, stormed towards the police station. They were easily driven off, he said, and many were killed. Shortly afterwards, the self styled leader of the group, calling itself the Arakan Rohingya salvation army, published a video. Rohingyas, he said, had now no choice but to take up arms.
